The Annual Hip & Historic Halloween
Downtown Culver City doesn’t mess around when it comes to Halloween. The Hip & Historic Halloween event is back on Sunday, October 26, 2025, from 4 to 6 pm. Families in costume can wander down Culver Boulevard between Washington and Duquesne, stopping in at shops and restaurants handing out candy. The best part? It’s free. The Culver Hotel usually gets in on the fun too, with courtyard activities at Lillie’s Restaurant (9400 Culver Blvd.). Expect plenty of costumes, treats, a kid-friendly haunted house, and even some live music. If you’re planning ahead, keep an eye on Downtown Culver City’s site or local news in mid-2025 for maps and the full lineup.

Does Mar Vista Farmers Market Do something for Halloween?
Yes! It’s the Halloween Festival. Sunday, Oct 26, 2025 (9am–2pm) at Grand View & Venice Blvd. The weekly Mar Vista market turns spooky for one Sunday each October. From about 10:30am there’s a costumed kids’ parade and marching band, plus pumpkin decorating, face-painting and live music. Vendors hand out treats, so children can trick-or-treat safely among farm-stands. (This is a FREE community event and the normal farmers market, just with Halloween fun.)

Unconfirmed Halloween Events Near the Culver City Area
Monster Bash (Trunk-or-Treat & Spooky Splash)
Last year, Culver City held a free Monster Bash with a Trunk-or-Treat in the park parking lot (usually 4–7pm). It was hosted by Culver City’s Parks & Rec on Saturday, Oct 26, 2024. Part of it was a kids’ Costume Parade (~5:30pm) and a fun contest. Immediately after, kids could hop into the “Spooky Splash” pool party at the Municipal Plunge (5:30–7:30pm) with games like bobbing for apples and pumpkin decorating. The Trunk-or-Treat was free (registration encouraged) and Spooky Splash cost only $2 per person. It’s likely that Culver City will see the return of this event in 2025.
Culver City Ivy Station’s Spooktacular Saturday
Sat, late Oct 2025 (date TBA, likely Oct 25), 11am–1pm. Ivy Station (at Washington Blvd & Inglewood Ave) holds a free kids’ Halloween party with crafts, face-painting, story time and trick-or-treating around the shopswestsidetoday.com. In 2024 this event fell on Oct 26 (11am–1pm) and included Halloween crafts, a children’s storytime, and candy handouts at retailers around the plazawestsidetoday.com. RSVPs are typically free via Eventbrite.
Heal the Bay Aquarium’s Fishy Fest
Heal the Bay Aquarium’s Fishy Fest – This has traditionally happened the Weekend before Halloween (Sat–Sun, late Oct 2025, 12–4pm) at the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium. This two-day festival (Oct 25–26 in 2024) turns the aquarium and Pier into a family Halloween zone. Kids get a Pier “Trick-or-Treat Treasure Map” (free candy at local businesses on the Pier). Inside the Aquarium there are costume contests and special activities (for ages 4+). Note: Aquarium admission is charged (adult ≈$12; kids 4–12 ≈$5), but kids’ trick-or-treating and outdoor activities on the Pier are free.
Neighborhood Trick-or-Treating (General Tips)
Halloween night itself (Friday, Oct 31, 2025) is the main trick-or-treating time. In the Los Angeles area, most homes turn on porch lights and hand out candy at dusk. Sunset in Culver City on Oct 31 will be about 6:00 PM, so a good time to start is roughly 6–8 PM (when it’s still light out). Los Angeles safety guides recommend trick-or-treating between 6pm and 8pm for best turnout. (Children under 12 should always be accompanied by an adult or group.) Parents should watch for car traffic and cross only at corners. If you plan to hit multiple events, check the websites or pages above for any required RSVP. Most community fall festivities listed above are free or very low-cost, making for a fun (and budget-friendly) Halloween on the Westside.
